Applying missing patches ETCC

satish
Dear Erman,

We are on R12.2.5 - non tls/ssl
DB 12.1.0.2

We are in process of upgrading AD/TXK delta from 7 to 12.
We have applied missing database patches as per ETCC.
Now we are applying missing ETCC patches to application tier.

Concern:
=====

We are applying below patch as part of ETCC run.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW) - Web Tier 11.1.1.9.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Patch 31047338
    - Filename: p31047338_111190_Linux-x86-64.zip
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) This patch has below post install instructions.Need your expertise whether we can skip them for now...

 Post-Installation Instructions
----------------------------------

1. This patch includes fixes required to configure SSLFIPS as per the following on My Oracle Support:
Doc 2115681.1 SSL FIPS 140-2 Standard for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g - OHS, WLS, OPSS, OWSM 10.3.6/11.1.1.9
* Note this configuration is not a requirement of the Critical Patch Update

2. After applying this patch, configuration is required to secure existing OHS instances. Follow steps from the following document on My Oracle Support:
Doc ID 2626956.1 - Cumulative README Post-Install Steps for Oracle HTTP Server 11.1.1.9 Critical Patch Update

3. Start all opmn, OHS services.

Please advice.

Thanks,
SG

post req 1 is for -> post-release certification where patches and steps are required when configuring SSL to meet FIPS 140-2 standards.

If you will never user SSL, you may skip it. (it is your risk bytheway, I m just giving my opinion)

post req 2 is for using the security enhancements delivered with this patch..It is for -> new configuration requirements and options made available with the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) Bundle Patches for 11.1.1.9.

So you should check the 2626956.1 and consider if it is better to do some conf changes in your env.. So in my opinion, it is again up to you, it depends on your security requirements to do the things given in that doc...

post req 3 is not a problem for you I guess :)

Dear erman,

Problem is in some of the systems internet explorer is being replaced with edge browser and we are unable to access erp forms.

We are planning to skip applying all the etcc patches for now and proceed with delta upgrade.Etcc in middle tier reports cpu patches only and these patches are not prerequisites for delta upgrades.pls correct me.

To enable java web start, minimum ad/txt level is 8,But we are on ad/txkdelta 7.

We are in process of upgrading AD/TXK delta from 7 to 12.
We have applied missing database patches as per ETCC and planning to skip etcc application tier patches for now.

Need your suggestions please. Will it have any impact on Ad/txk delta upgrade?

Thank you

Please follow the documentation and don't skip any patches. (unless they are optional)
My last update was about a post instruction and it was an exception (according to your env's setting)

Note, please don't delete any issues that you created in this forum. I saw you deleted the following one ->

http://erman-arslan-s-oracle-forum.124.s1.nabble.com/Bursting-error-Unable-to-send-emails-tp10304p10308.html

Don't delete. Other may use the info you provided and that may help them. So please recreate it and provide the solution that you found.

About those "Edge" problems, there may be lots of reasons.. Java may be one of them -> EBS R12.2 :- Cannot Launch Webpages From Forms In Edge Browser Using Latest JRE 1.8.0_291 Version (Doc ID 2777209.1)
