Block volume - OCI

satish
Hi erman,

We have created and attached block volume to compute instance in OCI for a test instance. We want to have UAT instance in the same compute instance. For this, can we create a new block volume and attach it to compute instance or just use the existing block volume for uat as well.

For new block volume, I think IO will be distributed across the volumes. Pls share your expertise.

Thanks,
SG

I would create a separate one. Because there is definitely a serialization mechanism somewhere in those common/shared access paths, even tough it is not visible to you. Having a dedicated volume also may help you being align with your regulations.
