EBS 12.2.13 upgrade

Hi Dear Erman!
How are you ? :)
Time goes too fast and we are facing another client upgrade

2 years  ago i  upgraded from 12.2.6 ->12.2.11 first and the last step was DB 12.1.0.2 to 19c latest

Now this client has also 12.2.6 and we go for 12.2.13 ..
Do you advise to go
option a)
first to 19c and then to 12.2.13   ?

option b)  Or can i go the old way : first 12.2.13 on 12c and then to 19c..

I dont like  option a)  as probably will be more harder to troubleshoot the issues with CDB architecture on 19c..

What is your opinion ? WHats easier ?

Would like to use downtime mode for RUP 12.2.11 , but looks like its not supported for 12.2--

thank you, I m fine. It feels like time goes fast when we do lots of things going forward, right? :) And arrow of time makes us upgrade the systems we almost never do downgrades :)

Anyways, option b gives you easier troubleshooting and simpler upgrade process. So you can choose to go with that.

The documentation makes you use online patching cycle for 12.2.6 to 12.2.11 upgrade. That is documented so. But I don't think it is caused by potential issues with downtime mode.. It is just so.. Oracle says: If you are already on 12.2.6 (a stable version), then you online patching.. Anyways, I m not the one who can give you an approval for this. You should ask this to Oracle Support Laurel :)

Hi Erman,

 Our environment is also like same.

Current Environment : 12.2.6/12.1.0.2 RAC/Oracle Linux 6.5

Above environment wanted to move to new Hardware with below Target upgrade versions.

12.2.13/19c RAC/Oracle Linux 8.x

* I know direct upgrade from Oracle Linux 6.5 to 8.x is not supported. So we need to do two stage OS upgrade i.e, 6.5 to 7.x and 7.x to 8.x.

So since we need to migrate existing environment  to new Hardware, please let me know the approach and reference document ids for above mentioned upgrades

I wouldn't upgrade Linux.
I would take it as a little migration project.
I would migrate my environment from Oracle Linux 6 to 8.
You are already replatforming to new Hardware, so put Linux 8 migration somewhere inside that process. (first ensure your db and ebs is certified with Linux 8 of course)
