EBS Database upgrade from 12.1.0.2 to 19c

Hi Erman,

Hope you are doing well.
We are in process to upgrade our EBS database from 12.1.0.2 to 19c . Our EBS is on 12.2.5 and AD &Txk delta patch level 10. We are following doc id Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 with Oracle Database 19c (Doc ID 2552181.1) for ugprade which says to upgrade AD & Txk to latest level i.e. 16.

Now, I have two questions:-

1.we have applied Patch 36119925 (R12.AD.C.Delta.16) and then ran ETCC on application server which is reporting lot of patches to be installed. Do you recommend to upgrade AD/txk from 10 to 16 directly or should be we do 10 ->12 ->16.

2. Do you think we can skip ETCC patch recommendation somehow and directly go ahead with AD/TXK patch apply? Would that cause any issue ? If at all needed we can apply the recommend ETCC patches after upgrade is done. Need your suggestion on this.

Thank you so much.

Regards,
Soumya

1) to the latest one , 16 is OK. The Delta RUPs are cumulative, meaning each new release includes all the fixes and features from previous releases.

2)No, don't skip ETCC patches.
Those patches can be thought of prerequisites for 19c Interoperability.
They are there for Preventing Issues During/After Upgrade
Apply them for being safe against support issues : If you encounter issues during or after the upgrade and open a Service Request with Oracle Support, one of the first things they will ask is if you have applied all recommended ETCC patches. If not, they may ask you to apply them before proceeding with troubleshooting, which can delay resolution significantly.
If you apply them after the upgrade, that may bring additional complexity.. Applying a large number of missing patches after a major database upgrade can introduce more complexity and risk, as you're then trying to stabilize an environment that might already be facing issues due to missing prerequisites. It's much cleaner to address these known requirements proactively.
