EBSR12.1 tune

Roshan
EBSR12.1
AIX 6.1
Hi,

I have cloned EBS R12.1 on a test instance. The application and also forms is slow.
I have tuned oacore and forms in context file. Still it is a bit slow.
# svmon -G -O unit=GB
Unit: GB
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
size       inuse        free         pin     virtual  available
memory         16.0        16.0        0.01        4.30        9.43       5.63
pg space       8.00        0.06

Do I need to add more RAM.
 Please advise

UMTG_r12tstdb.xml

Regards

I m not an AIX expert, but I will try to help you.

First of all, using units=G, the output becomes superficial.
I think you still have some free MBytes available in your free memory list. You can see it if you use unit=MB

Anways, I don't think your memory is fully used.

1) The memory consumption that you see in Svmon is probably due to caching.
That is SVMON's free value probably includes a lots of cached data.

You should actually use svmon -G to see a more detailed output.

svmon -G will give you a in-use value and you will extract it from the actual size to get the free memory.
Check this url, it makes sense ->  http://www.unixhealthcheck.com/blog?id=255

2)Did you check the database side? Did you identify the cause of the slowness? Is it purely application tier related? are you sure?

The application is ok now. I allocated only 5g to the sga_max_target instead of 10g. I tuned the oacore and forms in context.xml and run autoconfig.
I noticed when I increased the number of processes and number of sessions on database, the application became slower and could not start. When I decreased the processes and sessions, application ran smoothly.

your db and apps are on the same server then.. this makes sense.
