Here is a high level action plan for installing EBS 12.2 on RAC 11gR2
I have prepared this action plan long time ago and it is for 12.2.4 + RAC 11GR2, but the high level steps fopr the latest releases are almost the same.. Ofcourse you should do your replacements according to your target db release. For example: if you want to implement 19C RAC, you should redirect yourself to the relevant document. But as I said, generally these are the high level steps. Prepare the database nodes in Exadata Download EBS 12.2 installation files, unzip them and create a stage Follow the “Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install Release 12.2 (12.2.0), Part No. E22950-18” available on http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26401_01/doc.122/e22950.pdf and “Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Real Application Clusters and Automatic storage management with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 (Doc ID 1453213.1)” to install EBS 12.2 on RAC. Follow the Document: 1617458.1 (Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Readme) to upgrade EBS 12.2.0 to EBS 12.2.4. Patch the EBS Oacle Homes deployed to Exadata(to CPU july 2015) or upgrade them(11.2.0.4 or 12c upgrade) Follow Determine the documents: Database Patches Required by Oracle E-Business Suite on Exadata Database Machines ( Doc ID 1963786.1 ) , Database Patches Required by Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Engineered Systems: Exadata Database Machines and SuperClusters ( Doc ID 1392527.1) to determine and apply EBS 12.2 patches required for Exadata Database Machines. check this one as well -> http://ermanarslan.blogspot.com/2017/07/ebs-122-roadmap-for-high-available-ebs.html These action plans are for Exadata.. But it is still okay, as Exadata is also a RAC in anyways. Basically, you should install your GRID, then install your EBS as a RAC system using rapid install. Then, you will upgrade your APPS and DB to your preferred target releases. Check EBS documentation and downloads for getting the latest version of startCD.. Installing EBS with latest startCD will ease your job.. Latest startCD delivers the latest patchsets. |
Hi erman,
Thanks a lot. Do we need to install Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 on a Single Database Instance and then convert to a Oracle RAC Database? Or Can we install it on both nodes? 1) install grid software on both nodes 2) install rdbms on both nodes 3)create shared storage etc 4)install ebs on Rac Does this makes sense. My colleague updated me that we have to install ebs in single node nonasm and then convert to 2node Rac asm. Need it expertise Thanks |

Your colleague is wrong.
It used to be that way in those old 12.1 days. EBS 12.2 installation/rapidwiz is RAC aware. So you "don't" need to install it as a single node and then convert to RAC. Install your GRID and proceed with the EBS RAC installation. Get my book -> https://www.amazon.com/Practical-Oracle-Business-Suite-Implementation/dp/1484214234 We have covered all these things in that book. |
Thank you erman.
