Editionable Views in Custom Tables

ANIETO
Hi Erman. I hope you’re well.

We are upgrading from EBS 12.1.3 to 12.2.10.
We have decided to work on our customizations using Downtime Patching and Minimal Compliance.

During the upgrade process, editionable views were created for some tables of our Customs schemas
( And private synonyms in APPS pointing to this editionable Views ), but not for most of them.

our doubts and questions are:

Must these views be created for our custom tables?
Which upgrade process creates these tables?
and why were they only created for some tables and not for others in the same schema?

Thank you for your help

Hi ANIETO,

If a custom object has existing synonyms that point directly to the EBS base table at the time of the EBS 12.2 upgrade, then yes... The upgrade will automatically convert those synonyms to point at the editioning view instead, if one exists.

Also note that, only those tables that had a synonym in APPS prior to the upgrade will receive a synonym/edition view.

Thanks Erman,
The question is what do we do with the rest of our custom tables that the upgrade did not create editioned views?
Should we create an editioning view for each one or can we point directly to the custom tables?
What is the best practice In a scenario with a Minimal Compliance and using downtime patching?

Thanks in advance.

I guess you don't want your custom objects to be patched online.
If so, you can continue as before.. Apply your custom patch to test, fix the problems and apply it to prod.
If you won't use EBS for your custom objects, then you have nothing to do with those custom editioning views.

There is no best practice in the context of downtime custom object patching in EBS 12.2.

see this community disccussion on MOS as well -> Customizations for 12.2 that do NOT require online patching/ https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/CommunityDisplay?resultUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.oracle.com%2Fthread%2F3653910

I hope the link above will not be changed over time :)

Hello Erman did you mean EBR instead of EBS?

Thanks so much.
Best regards.
