Network connectivity issue HyperV 2012

Roshan
Hello,

I have configured the network card for a Virtual Machine on a HyperV server. I have configured /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. In this file, only the NETWORK address I do not know. I managed to ifup eth0.

When I ping the virtual machine it says destination host unreachable. When I ping google.com it says connect; Network unreachable

Rgds,
Roshan

check with ethtool and ensure that link is up.
check your network settings, ensure the ip addres, subnet mask and gateway is configured properly.
Check the documentation, here is for redhat to ensure you are doing it correctly.
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/3/html/Reference_Guide/s1-networkscripts-interfaces.html

Hyperv and its virtual machine server, which you didnt even specificy the OS are not in the scope.

"Work with your HyperV and OS admin for the rest."

I have done ethtool eth0 it says link is up and active. I have checked the parameters in the doc. All is o.k Do you think the error comes with ip addres, subnet mask and gateway configuration? Because the IT admin has shutdown a virtual machine. He has used that machine's IP.

When I do dmesg |grep eth0 it says eth0: no IPv6 routers present

Check with sysadmin and network admin. I already mention about things that you can do.

Ensure your ifcfg conf is correct.
Ensure no firewall is blocking you.

Roshan,

If you want me to assist you on these kind of issues, you need to provide all the information needed.
You dont even mention about OS and its version. In addition you have Hyper V on the environment.
You need to provide ifcfg-eth0, also ifconfig outputs, traceroute outputs , error screenshots, error messages and everything in a proper way.

Please consider these for your next issues also.

First, check yourself, do a detailed analysis, read the documents.
Then check with your Hyper V admin (in this case , it is the sysadmin), then check with your sysadmin in conjunction with network admin (if you have one)

So after all, if you cant find, provide the detailed information and come here.

Please consider this for your next issue also.
