There is no restrictions on having multiple oracle home in a single server. (vm or physical)
Having such a conf brings us 8 critical points. (maybe more, for now 8 of them come to my mind)
1) if you patch the OS, then all your oracle homes will be affected.
2)if your vm machine crashes because of a problem created by the oracle software in one oracle home , then your other database running on a different oracle home will be down too.
3)as your databases will reside on a single OS, your OS limits should be configured accordinly.
4)if one of your database will use lots of ram, because of PGA, then your other database will be affected negatively.
5)one of your database may fill out the FRA, so the other database may hang because of that.
6)one of your database may do lots of IO and fill out the OS IO queues and IO channels, then the other database may face an IO problem .
7)if one of your database is hacked, then your other database will be in danger also.
8)the database admin of db 1, will be the database admin of db 2 as well. so no true role seperation can be done there..
Important:
For virtualized ODA environment, ensure that; you use ODA BASE vm machines for placing your databases. Otherwise, your databases may suffer from IO performance if they are put on any user level guest machine.
