PSU patching

Sri
Dear Erman,

We are about to apply OCT PSU patch to our EBS database version 12.1.0.2.0,2node application and 2 node RAC.

We use opatch auto so that it will patch both the homes

we need your updates on below

1)Is Grid patch applicable to both GRID and ORACLE HOMES
2)Do we need to run conflict patch analysis on both the GRID and ORACLE HOMES?

Thank you

1) Unless the database home has different patch set than the GRID home, then yes.
Take a look at this note as well -> Why "opatch auto" not patching database ORACLE_HOME? (Doc ID 1479651.1)

2) I didn't understand this question? What kind of analysis are you talking about?  The conflict analysis across multiple homes?

--in general follow the readme.. line by line..

When you conflict, you can't patch..
You need to investigate that.

Here is what Oracle Support says about it ->

The fastest and easiest way to determine whether you have one-off patches in the Oracle home that conflict with the PSU, and to get the necessary conflict resolution patches, is to use the Patch Recommendations and Patch Plans features on the Patches & Updates tab in My Oracle Support. These features work in conjunction with the My Oracle Support Configuration Manager. Recorded training sessions on these features can be found in Document 603505.1. Alternately, there are instructions in the PSU README for determining what patches are needed.
