R12.2

satish
Hi Erman,

The way you maintain the forum is really appreciable.I wish you all the best to achieve the top 10 oracle sites soon.Ofcourse there are many blogs in internet but none of them has explained the internals of cutover phase.can you please shed some light on this phase.

Can you explain in your words about the below statement.I dont think the below statement is true.Until cutover will this triggers doesnt fire?

"During cutover, the run time data will be synced using forward/reverse cross edition triggers"

thanks for your feedback and good wishes, Mathew..

cross-edition triggers(cet) are triggered when the changes are made.
So they are fired, while we are patching(changing/modifying/upgrading things). So in apply phase, they are fired.

Cutover gets benefits from these triggers, as these triggers catch the changes , cutover could just do its cutover related things in the db tier by getting of what they supply.

I have written multiple articles about these triggers -> just do a search on my blog (with the keyword "edition triggers")
Also I have tried to give as much info as I can about these triggers in my book -> http://www.apress.com/br/book/9781484214237

Gone through

what is understand is,cross edition triggers are fired during apply phase.
what i want to understand is,during cutover is there any role for these cross edition triggers?or they have no role during cutover?

Thank you

Cutover gets benefits from these triggers, as these triggers catch the changes , cutover could just do its cutover related things in the db tier by getting of what they supply.

So they have an indirect role.

so,triggers are fired if any changes are happened in run edition during online patching cycle.we understand that these changes are caught by triggers.but will these changes synced to patch edition immediately or waits till cutover?

In cutover, the changes are actualized.

Can you be more clear on last statement.do you mean the changes will be synced during apply phase itself? What do you mean by actualize

No, I don't mean that. During the apply, during the changes, the changes are catched and stored.
In cutover, these stored changes + the unchanged data+objects gets actualized.
Actualized -> They become real in the perspective of run edition, in the perspective of EBS users.. patch edition data/objects will be the new run edition data/objects
