Will application tables and seed tables hold space in patch edition?

I mean during online patching cycle

tables are non-editionable
So for them and their data , there is no editioning things.
My answer for your is no.

For application tables i think there will be some dummy update will be made which will sync all the existing data during online patching,that means it should hold space right.pls clarify

I said no for storing the copy of the seed table data in patch fs.
Otherwise ofcourse,  updates and loading/copying of data consume space..
