Recreating external diskgroup

Dear erman,

I had an external redundancy diskgroup having 3 Disks in my test environment.we are unable to mount the diskgroup as the metadata was corrupted.

We are on 12.1.0.2,i know that we can drop a dismounted diskgroup for normal and high redundancy diskgroup using force keyword.
What are the ways we have to follow to drop and recreate an external   disk group

1)do I need to use dd to erase the header information and recreate the diskgroup and then do restore and recovery
OR
2)Will force keyword work to  drop and recreate for external diskgroup
