Restore/duplicate without datafile backup

Dear erman,

A datafile was added to the database after our L0 backup completed. Now we don't my have backup of that datafile.Archive files are available to recreate this datafile. How can a clone/duplicate database be created in this scenario?

Our db version is 12c and we are using Rac with asm

I didn't test this specific scenario, but I want think is the following;

duplicate from backup will complete without errors.
But if you continue recoverying the database after duplicate operation, then you will get errors...

Why dont you test it and upload the outputs here?

Thanks for the update.We tried in version 12.1.0.2 and we could see rman created the datafile and recovery went without any issue
