Undo datafile corruption with no backup

satish
Dear erman,

How would we proceed for a recovery in case the database (oracle 11gr2 is up & running and there is a media failure and one of the datafile belonging to the UNDO tablespace is lost (or maybe all datafiles belonging to the UNDO tablespace are lost). How would we recover from such a situation with database still up?

I have checked a lot of reference materials but none explains this scenerio?

Thank you

bytheway, when you lost your undo tablespace, your instance will be crashed after an unpredictable amount of time.
Some of the background processes (like CKPT) will terminate the instance when it is realized..
