Upgrade to 19c

satish
Dear erman,

We are planning to upgrade 12.1.0.2 database to 19c.Our ebs version is R12.2.5

Currently jan2022 psu is latest.Next psu will be released in mid of April month. When it is released, will it be certified and released for ebs also?
Or do we need to wait for some time for that apr psu to be available for ebs?

Is it mandatory to apply patches to oracle homes on application tier as well before upgrading to 19c.I understand we have to apply patches to database.

Thanks,
Satish

There are patches to be applied in the apps node. You should check the upgrade document, because they may change according to the environment..
But there is apps node patching requirement.. Last week, we have done our latest EBS 19C database upgrade, and we spent a significant time for apps node patching..

You are talking about Release Updates right? (RUs)
I recommend upgrading to Oracle Database 19c using the latest Oracle E-Business Suite certified Release Update.
Normally, next RU should be released on April.
Yes. It will be certified with EBS, but certification may take some time.

See -> https://blogs.oracle.com/ebstech/post/ebs-122-now-certified-with-dbru-1914-jan-2022
19.14 released on Jan, and certified for EBS on February 3..
19.15 is the one that you re looking for..

Well... Extended Support for Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 is available through July 31, 2022
Currently the recommended one for EBS is "Database Bundle Patch 12.1.0.2.220118 (Jan2022)".

12.1.0.2 was already in Extended support when this Data Bundle Patch was released.. 12.1.0.2 will be on extended support till July 31,2022. So probably yes, the new PSU will be certified and recommended. But the actual answer should be given by Oracle.. This is only my opinion.
