ZS7 dNFS

Roshan
DB 12.1.0.2
RAC 2 nodes with NFS
Solaris 11

Hello Erman,

I have an environment which is RAC on Solaris. Storage is ZS7 appliance. We are currently using NFS .
I would like to enable HCC to compress partitions on my environment. Unfortunately I do not see DNFS configured.
I am new to storage administration.

I checked the link below. This means when using dNFS, the storage device from the ZS7 appliance will be NAS?

https://www.orafaq.com/wiki/Direct_NFS

If ASM uses SAN to access the files, this means ASM is faster than dNFS?

Does the ZS7 appliance support NAS and SAN devices?

Is it possible to configure both dNFS and ASM for better performance and manageability?

I have checked ZS7 supports NAS device.

Which one among the 3 options below will you advise me to implement?

The three options for implementing Hybrid Columnar Compression on the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance are:
• Hybrid Columnar Compression on dNFS shares without ASM
• Hybrid Columnar Compression using ASM on dNFS shares
• Hybrid Columnar Compression using ASM on iSCSI and Fibre Channel LUNs

Currently we have NFS which is configured.

Is ASM on iSCSI and Fibre Channel LUNs faster than dNFS shares?

Normally FCP will be faster, but it is costly.. (HBA and etc..)

I would order them as FCP > DNFS > ISCSI..
