large lreg trace file

big
Hi,
On 19c we have large lreg trace file:

-rw-r-----    1 oracle   dba      1730940645 Feb 09 17:05 orcl_lreg_15729144.trc

Can we remove this file?
Can we stop tracing? Is it bad to do that?

Thanks.

*Do you have listener /Oracle Net Server side sqlnet trace enabled ?
*Do you have 10257 trace set in the database?
*Do you have "immediate trace name listener_registration level"  set?

These 3 above will make LREG-related traces to be written to the trace.

--REF: Oracle Net 12c: Instance Registration (LREG Background Process) (Doc ID 1592184.1) To

LREG registers instance information with the listener. It is a critical background process for each database instance.. (if killed or Oracle goes down).

So, if I was unhappy with the size of that trace, I would still not delete it, but I would empty it by using something like -> /dev/null > lreg_trace_name.trc

Hi,
Thank you.
Yes great:
 -> /dev/null > lreg_trace_name.trc
I will try this.

Hi again and thank you.

How can we know if lreg trace is enabled?

Regards.

Please check MOS document that I sent you in my previous update.

See whether or not those things documented there are implemented in your env.. If at least one of those things are implemented, then it means Lreg trace is enabled..
