Dear Erman,

Thanks for all the support.we need your updates for below questions

we have a physical server-we have converted it to 4 servers(one for supp db and one fore supp application.similarly one for dev db and and for dev application) using vmware.

How do we check how many physical cpu's and cores are available in this physical server?
How do we check how many logical cpu's/cores assigned to each virtual server?

For Guest VM running on your VMware , check the documentation of the related OS..

if it is Linux ->  you can use /proc/cpuinfo,  dmidecode -t 4 or lscpu

thank you,but i am asking how can we identify if it is a virtual server or physical

From lscpu,it is easy to identify if a server is virtual or pysical by looking into below fields

Hypervisor vendor:     VMware
Virtualization type:   full


lscpu is not working in this environment and so how to identify if the server is virtual or physical by looking into cpuinfo command

You have hypervisor flag in your /proc/cpuinfo output.
So your linux machine is a VM.

Here is one-liner for checking it;

grep -q ^flags.*\ hypervisor /proc/cpuinfo && echo "This machine is a VM"
