migration-raw disk mapping

satish
Dear Erman,

If our source db(11.2.0.4) is running solaris which is asm,we would like to migrate to linux asm(11.2.0.4). Can we remap raw disk to target db, does it work.

Thank you,
satish

It is not supported.

Unprovision and provision ASM devices from source to target server is not officially supported from Oracle even for the same endianess platforms,  i.e Windows to Linux or  HPUX to AIX  or Oracle Solaris x86-64 to Linux.

Read: Migration of An ASM Diskgroup Across OS Platform (Doc ID 1566352.1)

What you need to do is;
Create the same size of new diskgroups on the target server
And as for database migration, use for one of the methods described in note - Migration Of An Oracle Database Across OS Platforms (Generic Platform) [ID 733205.1]
