refresh DB

Roshan
Oracle 19c
source DR sstandalone ASM
target 2 RAC node preprod server ASM

Hello Erman,

we have refreshed the disks on preprod from a snapshot of disks from DR. When I open the DB I am getting

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-10458: standby database requires recovery
ORA-01122: database file 1 failed verification check
ORA-01110: data file 1: '+CALYPDATADG/DATAFILE/data_d-calyprd_ts-system_fno-1'
ORA-01200: actual file size of 954880 is smaller than correct size of 963840
blocks

Could you please advise.

Thanks,
Roshan

You need to give more details.. How did you represh. What is your filesystem (both on source and target)
What is your OS distro and version.. stuff like that...

But there are some documented cases in this context..

For instance : When Performing Recover From Hot Backup ORA-01237 or ORA-01200 (Doc ID 1413507.1)

Re: refresh DB

Roshan
identify the LUN IDs from OVM for each disk in the DB diskgroup on ASM on both source and target.

stop DB on target and DR.

storage team will take a snapshot of disks on source and map it to target disks.

should we unmount the diskgroup before this refresh?

target OS:
NAME="Oracle Linux Server"
VERSION="8.8"
ID="ol"

[root@ORAX8DR2 oraxscan]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.8 (Ootpa)

source:
# cat /etc/os-release
NAME="Oracle Linux Server"
VERSION="8.8"
ID="ol"

[root@ORAX8DR2 oraxscan]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.8 (Ootpa)

snapshot of disk is a hot backup type. I m not sure whether it is consistent or not.. It depends...
However, this error is more brutal.

The datafile size  stored in control file does not match with physical size of the data file. -> That's for sure.

You may follow the following MOS Document.. (if you trust your newly mapped luns, and your restore method...)

"When Performing Recover From Hot Backup ORA-01237 or ORA-01200 (Doc ID 1413507.1)"
