read oracle documentation for this.

You have to understand what recovery file dest is. You have to know what FRA is.

So this is very basic question and it is beyond of the scope of this forum

Hello,

I want to configure a RAC database for backup.

The spfile is on ASM

1.  I have to configure DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST and DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE parameters first.
To which location do I need to set DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST parameter? Is it on ASM?

How do I find space on ASM?

SQL> show parameter spfile


NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
spfile                               string      +DATA/LCMS/PARAMETERFILE/spfil
