Yes You extract the whole apps filesystem ( inst top and custom are already in apps filesystem ) , so no need for extra care.
Common top/clone is used in cloning. Having an uptodate commontop/clone directory ( created by adpreclone) is important for proper cloning.
You just tar and zip the whole apps filesystem for your backups. Daily or weekly, that s enough.
how do I do the restore?
for the entire apps tier I only extract it and run perl adautocfg appsTier
for $CUSTOM_TOP and $INST/log I only extract the folder to their specific directory?
why should I backup $COMMON_TOP/clone?
