It depends on your Mail Server's configuration. The authentication method configured in the Mail Server , I mean.. If the mail server is configured with relay access, then no need for passwords, but if not then you need to supply something.. Again according to the Mail Server's configuration.. For instance, if it is configured with password authentication , then you need to supply user&password for authentication.
